Totem
For decades Seneca Wildlife Preserve has housed the five remaining packs of the Totem wolves (canis lupis fortuna), a species similar to the Arctic Wolf (canis lupis arctos), ignoring the colored markings and symbols that appear over the bodies of the creatures. The color of each wolf's markings seems to determine which of the five packs they belong to. Every one of the wolves has a marking on their flank that categorizes them into one of the five packs - Bularo, Kuyar, Lutama, Nekan, and Raunde. Some of the canids have other markings, and are more frequent the higher the animal's social status in its pack.
We are the Totem Wolves, those last few packs of our kind. These are our stories, our struggles to find food and our joys of the sun rising each morning. We feel the wind rush through our pelts, the snow beneath our paws, the scent of pine needles, and the howls of our friends and enemies. Nothing will ever take this away, because nothing can. We will always be here, always experience these same things. This is our home.
We are Totem. We live and breathe every day in this land which we fight to keep. The outside world has no place here in Seneca. We are free...
Totem is a growing, active community of roleplayers with skill levels from Intermediate to Advanced. We also offer a great opportunity to sharpen your roleplaying skills and escape to the world of Totem.

Deputy Ceremony: The time has come to appoint a new deputy. I say these words before StarClan, that the spirits of our ancestors may hear and approve my choice. __________ will be the new deputy.
Apprentices
From this day forward, until he/she has earned his/her warrior name, this apprentice will be called [blank]paw. [blank][blank] [good traits about mentor] May you pass down all you know to this your apprentice. Note: During the long blanks, the leader says who the mentor of the apprentice is, and says a sentence or two about the mentors skills, virtues, etc. Usually kept brief.
Warriors
I, _____star, leader of ____Clan, call upon my warrior ancestors to look down upon this apprentice. S/he has trained hard to under stand the ways of your noble code, and I commend him/her to you as a warrior in his/her turn. _____paw, do you promise to uphold the warrior code, and protect and defend this Clan, even at the cost of your life? I do." Then by the powers of StarClan, I give you your warrior name: _____paw, from this moment on you will be known as _________. StarClan honors your _____ and your _____ and we welcome you as a full warrior of ____Clan.
Virtues: When become a warrior the leader says "StarClan honors your ______ and your ______ and...." These are what fill in the blanks. (Pick two)
___________, is it your wish to give up the name of warrior and go join the elders? It is. Your Clan honors you and all the service you have given us. I call upon StarClan to give you many seasons of rest.
Note: Sometimes the warrior name of the cat is changed to suit new features. See Name-Change Ceremony.
Name Change
Spirits of StarClan, you know every cat by name. I ask you now to take away the name from the cat you see before you, for it no longer stands for what he/she is. By my authority as Clan leader, and with the approval of our warrior ancestors, I give this cat a new name. From this moment on, he/she will be known as _______. We honor his/her ______ and ______.
Note: See Warrior Ceremony "Virtues" to fill in last two blanks.
Medicine Cats
"_______________, is it your wish to enter into the mysteries of StarClan as a medicine cat?" "It is." "Then come forward. Warriors of StarClan, I present to you this apprentice. She has chosen the life of medicine cat. Grant her your wisdom and insight so that she may understand your ways and heal her Clan in accordance to your will."
(medicine cats touch nose to Moonstone/Moonpool) **Takes place at Moonpool or any other name you call it.
Dying Apprentice (Change to Warrior)
I ask my warrior ancestors to look down on this apprentice. He/She has learned the warrior code and has given up his/her life in service of his/her Clan. Let StarClan recieve him/her as a warrior. His/Her name will be __________, because _________. Let StarClan recieve him/her by the name of __________. Note: This is said when an apprentice that is almost old enough to be a warrior dies/is expected to die before he/she becomes one.
This was used in Brightheart/Lostface's case.
Clan Meeting
Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather under the _________ for a Clan meeting.
Note: During emergencies Clan greetings may be shorter as every moment is vital.
Leader (For Claims)
Ex-Leader: Welcome, (enter cat's name here). Are you ready to receive your nine lives? Cat: Yes, I am ready.
Dead Cat #1: With this life I give you courage, use it well in defense of your Clan.
Dead Cat #2: With this life I give you justice, use it well as you judge the actions of others.

Dead Cat #6: With this life I give you mentoring, use it well to train the young cats of your Clan.
Dead Cat #7: With this life I give you compassion, use it well for the elders of your Clan, and the sick, and all those weaker than yourself.
Dead Cat #8: With this life I give you love, use it well, for all the cats in your care.
Ex-Leader: Welcome, (enter cat's name here), my warrior, my deputy,* With this life I give you nobility and certainty and faith. Use it well as you lead your Clan in the ways of StarClan and the warrior code. I hail iyou by your new name, (enter cat's first name half here)star. Your old life is no more. You have now received the nine lives of a leader, and StarClan grants to you the guardianship of (enter Clan's name here). Defend it well; care for the young and old; honor your ancestors and the traditions of the warrior code; live each life with pride and dignity.
All: (enter cat's new name here)! (enter cat's new name here)!
That is the basic script of how it goes along. It may vary though, and sometimes a StarClan cat will talk back to your leader like how Redtail spoke to Fireheart. There you have it! The mini 'script' of the leadership ceremony! * sometimes, if the deputy was apprenticed by the leader at a point, they will also include 'my apprentice'. I assume that if the new leader is the old leader's kin that they could also reply with 'my son' or 'my daughter', etc.
------------------------------------------------- Note: The research, although not finished, should be fairly accurate. In addition, the toxins part is true for felines. If you have anymore information on the diseases or cures please contact me. Just saying, as well, two of those diseases were made up. Ringfur was my idea of Ringworm and Fly Strike is a name for maggot-infestation disease. Although those aren't true to the books, I felt I might include them because I could imagine they would be fit for the series. ^-^;
Part I: The Herbs
▫ Poppy seeds - to use these you have to only chew up and swallow a few seeds. Eating any part of the plant could, in fact, be hazardous to your feline's health. - This can be found in various earthy places. ▫ Cobwebs - to use this you must press the 'webs firmly into the wound to cease the bleeding. Think of it as a mini tourniquet! - This can be found near trees and small shrubs and bushes. ▫ Burdock root - you must chew this up before serving it to a feline. It can be used to prevent infections from things such as rat bites. - Note that you can find this around many shrubs and bushes. ▫ Mouse bile - to use this you should put it upon a moss leaf or some other form to soak it up with. You put it over a tick or parasite, or whatever the case, and it will cause the insect to not be able to breath. It will then recoil and leave its victim and end up dying from lack of oxygen. - To obtain this you need to get the stomach bile from a mouse. It is an extremely foul subject to deal with, so never put it into your mouth unless you want bad taste for a few weeks and possibly some illness as well! ▫ Catnip - a sexual-oriented plant as catnip is, it is especially helpful against Greencough and to cure some mild sicknesses. However, too much of it can do a cat badly so keep it in small dosages. - It can be found in random patches. ▫ Thyme - chew this up and feed it to cats to ease their anxieties of everyday life. - It can be found around the forest easily. ▫ Honey - whenever a cat has a sore throat or speech problem a little bit of honey does it well! - This can only be obtained in a Twoleg nest. You can try to fetch it in the wild from a beehive, but it would be quicker and require less medical assistance if you went into a Twoleg's yard or house and snatched some. ▫ Marigold - this is a bright yellow flower that is used to heal sores and wounds. - You can find it around almost any patch of flowers near or around a forest-surrounding. ▫ Chamomile - a special herb mixture of dried chamomile mixed with water, or just the plain leaves, given to a feline relaxes them and their conscience. It can also be used as a sleep aid for those restless little ones! - This is found near trees mostly. ▫ Comfrey - this thick-leaved plant is used to ease the pain of broken bones. Keep this on the wound and eventually you may see an improvement, although it isn't always certain. - You can find these in sandy regions and forest places. ▫ Nettle - the leaves of this plant are used for rash and fever care of the cats. - This can be found in most forest-regions. ▫ Yarrow - when digested this can be used to vomit back up poison or other deadly toxins that were taken in by a feline. It should chewed and swallowed only as it will come back up with whatever is disturbing the feline. - This can be found in any region. ▫ Feverfew - this plant can be used to lessen a head pain. - You can find this white-and-yellow flower in various climates. ▫ Snakeroot - this white bud is used to counter poison. - It is found in various places. ▫ Chervil root - mixed up and fed to a cat, this can counter a bellyache. - It can be found near some trees. ▫ Juniper berries - these berries, unlike that of Yew trees, are used to cure stomach pains and sometimes mild coughs. - They can be found in bushes and shrubs. ▫ Water mint - this herb, obviously near any source of water, is used to cure a bellyache. ▫ Dock leaves - mix then and apply it to fur can make the pelt of a cat very slippery and can help them get out of tight places. - They can be found in various places. ▫ Wild garlic - if you roll in this garlic it will keep out infections of bites and scratches fairly well. - You can find various patches around each Clan. ▫ Deathberries - these bright red berries, also known as Yew, are deadly. When digested the poison inside of them will kill a feline. They will roll over in spasm and writhe until either cared for with Yarrow or other herbs or until they die. - These can be found at various places in the forest, not a good thing at all! ▫ Broom - this is often used in the aid to cats with broken bones. It is said that the healing process for a cat with such a problem would go more swift and easier on the pain side.
Part II: Diseases/Illnesses
▫ Greencough - a deadly cough in which occurs mostly during winter and cold months. Without proper care the victim could die very quickly. -Symptoms: coughing, lack of energy, lack of appetite, fever. ▫ Whitecough - although not as bad as Greencough, this cough experiences the same symptoms but in all seasons. It is easily treated though. -Symptoms: coughing, lack of energy, lack of appetite. ▫ Ringfur - a deathly illness. Based off of the Ringworm in our language, Ringfur is that. The cat loses fur along where the fungus is, since it lives on the hair, and the only way to 'get better' is to isolate the feline from the others. The cat will be exiled or else will go under protective care from the medicine cat including spreading mouse bile along the lost fur. Another method is to leave the cat to a Twoleg nest for them to take care of it. Not all cats are returned though. -Symptoms: loss of hair in spots, red wounds, scratching, possibly fever. ▫ Fly strike - known to some as 'maggots', whenever a cat does not stay groomed it will get this disease. The only way a MedicineCat can assist them is by using mouse bile and various washings as in a stream. -Symptoms: grungy pelt, lack of wanting to groom, lack of appetite, scratching.

Begin the adventure....
Long ago, before Firestar, Tigerclaw, and the new prophecy, there were only three Clans of StarClan, and this is their tale...
The three Clans of the forest, still fairly new, have lived in harmony for the past 10 moons. They have always been three, and three they will always be. ThunderClan, the loud Clan, WindClan, the gust Clan, and ShadowClan, the dark Clan. Together, they live under StarClan's happiness and wealth, and prosper and grow to someday become the most powerful Clans in the forest. But Ashstar, leader of ThunderClan, has noticed a change in the wind, signaling intruders.
Then came RiverClan. The over-sized Clan of mostly loners tromps onto the three Clans' territory without a hint of remorse. Trying their best to settle, RiverClan create much havoc and hardship for the original Clans. The three do not know what to do, but Ashstar was right: Intruders have come.
ShadowClan immediately tries to drive the RiverClanners out, but they outnumber their forces. Ashstar says he'll talk to the RiverClanners if ShadowCLan stops being a threat. RiverClan has no intentions of leaving, and so WindClan gets nervous. With a new Clan, they might get pushed out of their home even further.
Looking for safety and comfort, WindClan joins forces with ShadowClan, and try to chance Ashstar's mind. Ashstar will not budge from his beliefs. But with tornado season raging too close, is it possible for the four Clans to ever have harmony?

Poisonscar lifted his head up and had a smile across his face as he saw the wild warrior appear. He nodded to the small apprentices in front of him and they went scattering out to the old elders den. "Yes, if you'd like. Is there problems with Tearstar?" he said as he saw the cats eyes wander. He kneaded the ground with his paws and huffed, "What did she do now?" worry was plastered on his face. He knew his leader had had some weird things going on with her but didn't think much of them. He had hoped it wasn't to bad, for the sake for everyone.

Rosethorn sighed and sat up. She nodded respectfully to Tearstar and watched as Onyxwind ran off. He was rather annoying... but she could put up with... or, actually, she found his random outbursts and his incredibly charisma most entertaining... though she wasn't overly fond of being called baby or babe.... but she could live with it.

Rapidkit cocked his head to one side, his ears flickering. He mewed and lightly licked her paw, almost as though he were trying to clean her pelt... He looked up at her with his big kitten eyes and then rubbed his little body against her paw and her foreleg, looking up at her, wanting to play, but also wanting to do as she wanted... which seemed to be teaching him his name... He licked his paw and ran it over his face for a moment before settling to sitting still again, looking up at the new comer, Warmingsun.
Warmingsun nodded, his pale orange ears twitching for a moment. He looked at the little kit and smiled. "So Willowstar is going to make you raise him?" Warmingsun settled himself on his haunches, his tail wrapping around his paws. He would be glad to help her if she wanted it at any time.... as long as he wasn't busy with warrior stuff.

"You stupid old lady!" Laughed Onyxwind hysterically, falling to the ground and rolling around, beating the dirt with his paw. "Oh.. what a nut." He looked at Rosethorn. "She really has lost her sanity, hasn't she? Ah, well, I'd better go talk to Poisonscar. Be right back, baby." He winked at the black she-cat and padded into the apprentice's den. "Hey! Poisonscar!" He meowed loudly, dipping his head to the small number of apprentice's dwindling inside. "Will you come on a walk with me? There are certain things I think need attending to." He let his eyes wander to the leader's den. "Some cats in particular." His voice was low and quiet now. How could Tearstar seriously set guards on him?

"I'm sure we would all love to be rid of me, including me as well. It would shut you up for good, for me at least. I just hope something bad does happen to me so the you'll feel so terrible for saying those things." she said in a playful tone, liking that there is some challenge in her clan at least. She spun around and was walking back to her small den, then she stopped. "Rosethorn, keep an eye on him. He's far to much trouble for just one cat, get another cat to help you if you want." she said a little smile creased on her face.
